Omega Seamaster Diver Co-Axial Master Chronometer watch, 007 edition
We can all enjoy the cinema, regardless of age, place of origin or personal taste: there is a film out there to please everyone! This makes the seventh art the perfect platform to showcase other masterpieces, like, for example, luxury watches. Many great films feature an iconic timepiece. If you are a horology enthusiast and are looking for something to watch, from Relojería Alemana we would like to offer some inspiration so that you can enjoy both cinema and watchmaking during the summer holidays.

Jaeger-LeCoultre, watches for superheroes

In recent decades, one of the fastest-growing film genres has been superhero movies. In the world of American comic books, the two greatest rivals have always been DC and Marvel; these two companies have continued to compete on the big screen, and of course, every hero has its tools. This is especially true in the case of the Dark Knight, known for his broad collection of gadgets and gizmos. Since Val Kilmer became Bruce Wayne, up until Christian Bale's took up the cape, Jaeger-LeCoultre has been the Maison of choice for this vigilante. In “The Dark Knight Rises”, we can see this billionaire character wearing a JLC Reverso with a brown leather strap.
While JLC is the watchmaker chosen by the world’s most famous bat, there is another comic book hero that wears this brand: Doctor Strange, a skilled surgeon who becomes a sorcerer after a traffic accident that makes it impossible for him to continue pursuing his medical career. During part of the film we can see him wearing a JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual watch, a model with a round dial and brown leather straps.

Omega and Tag Heuer: True action stars

On a different sphere, though not any less exciting, Omega and Tag Heuer have become true action stars. The greatest figure of this genre is, without a doubt, James Bond, the world-famous British spy who usually wears an Omega timepiece. During the last film, “No Time to Die”, 007 sports a Seamaster Diver 300M 077 Edition, a model brimming with style. But this brand goes even further, in the 1995 “Apollo 13” movie, Tom Hanks uses an Omega Speedmaster, the official watch for NASA astronauts.
As for Tag Heuer, sports car enthusiasts will be able to see this brand in “Ford v Ferrari”; a film depicting the precision required in endurance racing such as the 24 Hours of Le Mans, so, of course, this Swiss watchmaker could not be left out. If you sit down to enjoy this movie, you will see Matt Damon’s character wears a Carrera Reference 7753 SN, while the driver played by Christian Bale sports an Autavia ref. 2446.
Those who prefer an espionage theme to sports cars can turn to the Bourne saga, where the main character —played, once again, by Matt Damon— wears a Tag Heuer Link Chronograph. If you like spotting timepieces while watching films, you will know this list is merely the tip of the iceberg, however, we hope it has given you some inspiration.
