Have you seen the latest and most exclusive timepieces in the world of haute horlogerie yet? Last April, the most eagerly awaited watch fair of the year was held in Geneva: Watches & Wonders 2024. This week-long event brought together the most prominent brands, such as Cartier, Panerai or Tag Heuer, who presented their latest launches; models that will define the course of watchmaking. From Relojeria Alemana we had the opportunity to attend this exciting occasion, so keep reading to discover what's new this 2024.

TUDOR brought a surprising new Black Bay 58 GMT with a black and red bezel

This year, TUDOR presents two bold new versions of the Black Bay 58. The first one is 18-carat yellow gold timepiece with a glass back, including the IWC Manufacture Calibre and a solid gold bracelet. The second, a completely new Black Bay 58 GMT with the Master Chronometer certification —awarded by METAS— and a monochrome design, as well as further-developed elements such as the "T-fit" clasp. As for the Clair de Rose, TUDOR adds its distinctive blue dial to this piece, available exclusively in stainless steel with a mechanical movement.

An tribute to eternity: IWC Schaffhausen launches its first secular perpetual calendar at Watches and Wonders 2024

Continuing with their unique expertise on calendars, IWC Schaffhausen presents the Portugieser Eternal Calendar. This is the Swiss watchmaker’s first secular perpetual calendar, a tribute to eternity that also incorporates a moon-phase display —accurate to 45 million years.
The everlasting cycle of day and night has inspired four new exclusive colours for their dials: Horizon Blue, Dune, Obsidian and Silver Moon, shades that are present across the entire range of latest pieces, including the new Portugieser Perpetual Calendar 44, Portugieser Automatic 42, Portugieser Automatic 40 and Portugieser Chronograph. All the watches in the new Portugieser collection —powered by IWC-manufactured calibres— feature meticulously detailed dials, including a finish that uses 15 layers of transparent lacquer.

In 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre shows their search for precision, an essential principle for this Maison since it began in 1833

Over the course of two centuries, Jaeger-LeCoultre has distinguished itself by developing increasingly sophisticated calibres that ticked perfectly, an essential characteristic for precise timekeeping. For this reason, the watchmaker has specialised in tourbillons, inventing also the Duometre mechanism —which allows complications to be added without sacrificing the accuracy of the watch's functionality. In 2024, Jaeger-LeCoultre merged these two lines of development, creating the Duometre Heliotourbillon Perpetual.
Moreover, this Maison applies the Duometre concept to a completely new timepiece that combines the high precision of a chronograph with the appeal of a celestial complication. The Duometre Chronograph Moon, powered by the new Calibre 391, presents an intriguing contrast between the quick running of the chronograph —which can measure intervals as small as 1/6th of a second—, and the slower pace of the moon while it completes its cycle in 29.53 days; the finishing tough to this movement is the day or night indicator.

Hublot takes a step towards the future with a new generation of chronographs

This watchmaker designed its first movement in 2010; the Unico calibre that proved to be a pioneer in both technical and aesthetic terms —and which boosted Hublot's reputation for the avant-garde design of its timepieces. Eight years later, they presented the new generation of the self-winding chronograph with its flyback feature. This is a modernised, simplified and formidably precise version: the MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System, a highly complex watch with no dial and no indexes. This exclusive timepiece —a limited edition of just 50 pieces— offers a glimpse into the future of research and development within watchmaking.

Tag Heuer celebrates the 55th anniversary of the Monaco collection with a new chronograph

The latest addition to the collection comes in two different colour options: a dynamic and sporty red version, inspired by the Maison's racing DNA, and a classic and timeless blue version that pays tribute to the original 1969 Monaco.
After a year of celebrations and reveals, the Swiss luxury watchmaker continues to look back towards its rich heritage, pushing the boundaries of iconic design with the unveiling of the latest TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph. This piece features sleek azure black subdials at 3 and 9 o'clock, which in turn contrast with the brushed silver dial, creating the characteristic bi-compax "panda" look. The addition of captivating red lacquered hands further amplifies the contrast, ensuring a clear reading at a glance.
Following its acclaimed return to the nautical world with last year's launch of the Carrera Skipper chronograph in steel, TAG Heuer announced a new version of this watch with an 18-carat 5N rose gold case. In addition, after the success of 2023, TAG Heuer also introduced three exquisite 36 mm watches from their Carrera collection, models that embody the essence of feminine sophistication.

Zenith aims higher than ever with its latest pieces

The new DEFY Skyline Chronograph is a modern version of the first octagonal case with a multi-faced bezel. With the same robustness and durability as its predecessors, this version has a bolder, more contemporary aesthetic. The new 42 mm DEFY Skyline Chronograph combines several factors: the precision of the seconds-hand stopping mechanism; the El Primero calibre 3600 with tenths of a second indication; and a durable steel case.
The DEFY Revival is a faithful reproduction of the first DEFY from 1969. It features a 37 mm steel case with a unidirectional rotating steel bezel with orange-tinted sapphire insert and a water resistance of 60 ATM (600 metres). The dial is black and orange with luminescent hands and markers. Equipped with the automatic Manufacture Elite 670 movement, it has a 50 hours power reserve.
